Mooring Plan

Download the plan

Marina di Loano can host more than 1,000 boats, from 8m to 40m, along its inner docks and floating docks. Boat berths include: 827 permanent berths for annual berthing of pleasure crafts. Of these: 550 berths of up to 16m on floating docks; 100 transit berths; 100 berths rented at rates agreed with Loano Town Council; approx. 30 berths for professional fishing boats; 3 berths for Coastguard boats.

The boats moored at the inner docks have access (through the stern) to a pair of bollards, each one with 10-ton traction resistance, as well as stainless-steel mooring rings, each with up to 6-ton traction resistance. A pair of traditional bow mooring chains or lines are available, attached to concrete dead-men weighing up to 7.5 tons each and fixed onto the seabed. The facilities provided considerably exceed the needs of the current mooring plan and are equipped to host a greater fleet in the future.

Finger berths

Boats ranging between 8m and 16m can also moor at the 3m-wide floating docks. Made of concrete units filled up with waterproof expanded foam, these are attached to poles fixed onto the seabed. Their mooring jetties project out into the marina from the Central Pier. These facilities, which do not use the traditional bow mooring lines, considerably increase safety of mooring procedures and ease of manoeuvring for boats and yachts, especially with small or family crews.

Multi-utility pedestals

The inner docks and the floating docks share the same type of stainless steel utility pedestals providing stern access to electricity, water, satellite TV and internet connection. With the exception of smaller berths, each individual craft is charged at cost for the utility services used. This encourages responsible energy consumption and grants a transparent and fair charging system.

Watercraft wastewater collection and disposal

Each berth is connected to the black water disposal system whereby wastewater is treated before being released into the sewage system.

Easy manoeuvring and access to services for boats and yachts

In designing the mooring plan, special attention has been paid to ensuring that access routes to the berths and manoeuvring circles were at least 1.5 times as big as the berth itself, thus granting easy and safe mooring by the standards set by the International Council of Marine (ICM).

Based on functional considerations, the floating docks are attached to the Central Pier, thus contributing to enlivening life at the marina even at less busy times of the year. Visitors find easier access to support services and greater socialising opportunities in the buildings right next to their berths. The inner dock moorings, aimed mainly at boats longer than 16m, provide more demanding boats with space and services suitable for their size.

Transit berths

Transit berths are essential to nautical tourism. The offer of permanent berths is, therefore, complemented by that of transit berths, accounting for 10% of the total berths. The offer of the marina is completed by an area reserved to professional fishermen and one devoted to minor boating for local residents at rates agreed with the Town Council.
