SiatSail is an innovative insurance product specifically dedicated to the nautical sector created by Siat Assicurazioni (Unipol Group), a single modular policy that provides all the coverage necessary for the owner of a pleasure boat: damage to the boat, civil liability for damage to persons and property of third parties, injuries to the captain and passengers and finally assistance during navigation for the boat and people.
The strengths of this policy are essentially threefold: modularity, completeness and technological support for the policy quotation and issuance process.
Modularity consists of dividing the policy into four separate sections – Body, Third-Party Liability, Accident and Assistance – which, depending on the client's choice, can be purchased in their entirety or in different combinations, with the only requirement that at least one of the two "main" covers, Body or Third-Party Liability, must be present.
In addition, the client can choose between three coverage alternatives of decreasing breadth (Platinum, Gold and Silver) as far as damage to the pleasure craft is concerned, and can also purchase specific coverage extensions to the policy.
The completeness of the offer lies not only in the possibility of purchasing up to four covers in a single policy but also in the breadth of the cover provided.
In particular, the traditional "All Risks" approach typical of Italian policies, which have always differed in this respect from the Yacht Clauses, the competing English clauses, is guaranteed, thus offering a significant advantage over the English "named risks" approach.
A number of covers that the market often offers as extensions have also been added (including Flood, Earthquake and Volcanic Eruptions, Fire Damage Waiver, and Socio-Political Events, among others).
The third strength of the policy lies in the technological support to the quotation and policy issuance process: SiatSail will operate through a web-based platform – accessible only to insurance intermediaries upon registration – which will allow the intermediary to request the quotation and eventually issue the policy, thus making the whole underwriting process faster and more efficient.
