A perfect-weather weekend allowed the 36 boats entered in the second edition of the 2019–20 Marina di Loano Winter Championship to run smoothly through the programme. The event was organised by the Circolo Nautico del Finale, the Circolo Nautico Loano, the CNAM Alassio and the collaboration of the Yacht Club Marina di Loano.
Two regattas on the buoys organised by the Race Committee on Saturday 9 with a northerly wind which then shifted to the north-east and an intensity of between 8 and 10 knots (up to 12 knots in gusts) and a calm sea.
Today, Sunday 10 November, a coastal race of 8.5 miles was contested, with winds from the north up to over 20 knots in some parts of the course, which included: an initial upwind tack to the disengagement buoy in front of Pietra Ligure, followed by a leeward leg to Borgio Verezzi and immediately after a stern leg with a buoy in front of Borghetto Santo Spirito and a final sprint with a return upwind to the finish line in front of Marina di Loano. In this race, Salvatore Giuffrida's Vega won on corrected time and Manuela Verrina's Emma 2 came second. The two crews thus managed to get ahead of the third-placed Farr 40 Robi e 14, which remains at the top of the provisional overall category standings.
